The Daily Daily: The Vanquish Demo
Demos are designed to make you want to buy a game. That is why they make them. It also gives you the chance to see if you like a game enough to purchase it. One of the best examples, for me, was playing the Resident Evil 5 demo. I hated it. The controls were horrible and the action was stilted. Vanquish might be the reverse, convincing me that a game might be worth my bucks. Basically, it is a third-person-cover-shooter. Think Gears of War. However, where Gears wants you to take care and take your time, Vanquish really, really wants you to move around the map and just shoot everything on the screen. It reminded me a lot of the First Lost Planet. I loved parts of that game, because of the insane battles and the intense action. However, it was hampered by a terrible story and balancing issues. Vanquish might disappointment me, but the half hour I played was just wanted I’ve been looking for in a game. Lots of guns, lots of shooting and a robot suit. I’m not sure what else I need out of life, to be honest with you.
